About Us

Owner Kurt Sinner is a native Oregonian who first experienced the aromas and flavors of regional Mexican cooking during his extensive travels throughout Mexico 25 years ago. Drawn then to the ambience of a sleepier Vallarta, Kurt has recaptured at época a slower pace in the romantic heart of this bustling city. With guidance from friend and culinary mentor Chef Ignacio Uribe Moreno, Kurt has coaxed época into one of Vallarta's newest gems on the beach.

Chef de cuisine Gerardo Gomez Velasco, native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, is the creative force behind época's kitchen. Prior to his arrival at época, "Gomez" gained extensive experience in one of the Pacific Northwest's finest restaurants. Returning to Mexico, working with regional Mexican flavors and time-honored recipes throughout the country, Gomez blends old traditions with his modern gourmet savvy. Local chefs and patrons alike laud Gomez for his artful and tasty presentations of época's outstanding menu.
